Green Pop Shop  613 13th Street North

On July 15, 2010 at approximately 3:20 a.m.., staff from Greens Pop Shop reported a theft of a sleeve of lottery tickets by a Caucasian male.

The male suspect came into the store and bought candy. While staff was attending to other matters the robber male grabbed a full sleeve of lottery tickets and fled the store.  The sleeve is worth $245. The subject is described as a male approximately 5'6", about 25 years old, and was not clean shaven. The male had an off white ball cap on backwards, dark jeans, dark t-shirt and dark running shoes.

The owner contacted police and reported a break and enter at N'Joy A Smoke.  Police attended the business and observed the front door window smashed out and a crowbar laying in the security bars.  There was also a large piece of concrete lying in front of the door. The security bars in the door were still intact and it did not appear that access was gained to the store. 

Security video showed the culprit smashing out the glass, believed with the concrete, and then using the pry bar to try pry open the security bars in the window.  The subject was trying to gain entry for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Witnesses contacted police to report a white purse found at the North East corner garbage at Galt Gardens. Vehicle keys were located a short distance away. A damaged car was located a short distance away with the use of the panic button on the keys. A grey Toyota Corolla with AB license BLE-015 had the rear right window smashed out of it. A wallet was located in the vehicle. Vehicle was found to have been stolen earlier in the day.

On July 17, 2010 at approximately 1:10 a.m. witnesses heard glass break and then saw a dark coloured vehicle drive away from the parks depot at Nicholas Sheran park at a high rate of speed.

Police attended the scene, located a broken window on the south side of the parks depot garage. The vehicle was no longer in the area at the time of police attendance. The complainant was not unable to provide a license plate number for the vehicle nor was she able to provide a description of the occupant of the vehicle. There was no other damage to the depot and entry was not gained into the garage. There were no other witnesses to the occurrence and no suspects for the mischief.

Police attended the residence and spoke with the complainant who advised he was in the process of renovating the 1/2 duplex. The residence was last seen on July 2, 2010 in good condition. Upon arrival on July 6, the complainant discovered a back basement window had been broken out. Subjects gained entry to the residence and spread primer on some walls and newly laid vinyl flooring.

Unknown culprit(s) attempted to steal a 1989 Honda Civic from a in front of a residence. They gained entry by smashing the passenger side window. Once inside the steering column and ignition were damaged in an attempt to start the vehicle. Various tools were found in and around the vehicle.

Complainant witnessed an unknown male had attempted to steal a 1993 Nissan Sentra that was parked in front of Alan Watson School. Suspect is described as white male, mid 20's, 6' 3" 180lbs, short blonde hair wearing a grey hoodie - dark grey front, light grey sleeves and blue jeans.

Suspect gained entry by breaking the passenger side window and steering column was damaged in the attempted theft.

The locked compound was last visited on June 24, 2010, and everything appeared fine at that time. On June 30, 2010, someone advised the complainant that the door to the trailer was open. He attended and found the dinette window of the trailer had been pried open and the door of the trailer was open as well. The interior of the trailer had been rummaged through and nothing appeared to be missing other than maybe some clothes or bedding.

The birdhouse was described to be about 5' tall, made of old barn wood.

There was no broken glass or any other signs of forced entry to the vehicle.

Unknown persons smashed the rear passenger window of a 2008 Kia Rio parked in a parking lot located in the 1200 block of 2 Avenue South.  Suspects also entered an unlocked black 2002 Black Hyundai Elantra that was parked in the same parking lot.  Once inside the vehicle culprits removed the contents of the glove compartment and damaged the signal indicator above the ignition.  It appears that subjects were attempting to steal the vehicle, but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

The steering column by the ignition was checked and did not appear to have been damaged. The signal lever was broken off the column and the rear view mirror had been found outside the vehicle.

Unknown person(s) had smashed the window out of victim’s truck and stolen property from inside the truck.

1994 Nissan pickup truck was parked in the owner’s driveway and had it's passenger side window smashed out. Culprits did not enter the vehicle (which remained locked), but opened the glove box in an obvious search for valuables.

Black leather wallet containing his driver's license and no money was taken, along with an IPOD Nano (light green - 4 GB). Culprits also stole a Mio C210s Digi Walker GPS Navigator and a clear plastic Airsoft pistol toy gun.

It was clear that the subjects had smashed and grabbed items as there were several other items of value left inside the truck.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the subject.

The glass of the exterior and interior front doors of the entry way were shattered. The exterior door, which had metal bars inside of the glass, had the deadbolt unlocked from the inside after the glass was broken. The interior door had no bars affixed to it, and could be passed through after the glass had been broken. Two red bricks were found on scene.

Suspect 1 was approximately 5'10" 190 lbs with short black hair and possibly a moustache. He was wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt with a design or logo on the back.

Suspect 2 was approximately 5'11" 175 lbs with short black hair. He was wearing dark pants and a black t-shirt.

Homeowner found a young aboriginal male approximately 16 years old had broken into his detached garage.  Homeowner located the male inside the garage took the male by the wrist and held him for police to arrive.  When the homeowner attempted to call police the male got loose and fled the garage into the backyard climbed the southeast fence and fled on foot in a southeast direction.

 

The male was described as 5’6” tall, slim to medium build, wearing black shoes, black pants, black hoodie with a grey unknown symbol on the front and a black balaclava.  The balaclava had a single opening for the eyes and nose.

Two subjects were located in a garage in the 600 block of 13th Street South after gaining entry to the vehicle and removing the car stereo and emergency kit.  Police attended the location as a result of a complaint of an attempted break in to the residence located in the 1200 block of 7th Avenue SouthBoth subjects in custody.

Mischief to Parking Meters

Downtown Core

Three Lethbridge men were taken into custody following a report of damage and theft from parking meters in the downtown core.  Witnesses observed three men damaging several parking meters and prying them open with a large metal bar to gain access to the money inside. The Police K9 unit was called in to assist in the arrests.  All three were charged with Mischief and Possession of Stolen Property.
